Printmaking
This is my ongoing work towards my Certificate Quest in Printmaking: Some of the images are class work exercises, others are my own experimentation.
- Relief: A relief can be defined as an impression made by hand or an object that has been transferred onto an alternative surface.
- Intaglio: The term intaglio, meaning to engrave or cut into, refers to the process by which an image is created by gouging, biting or incising lines into the surface of a metal plates.
- Screen Print: Is a Stencil Process in which the color applied is forced through silk or other fine-mesh cloth.
- Lithography: Stone Writing - Is the process in which an image is drawn onto a stone or plate. Water and ink are applied to the plate and the image is then transfered.
- Monotype: A unique print made by pressing paper against a painted or inked surface.
- Letterpress: Letterpress printing is a technique of relief printing using a printing press. A combination of text, ordaments, decorations and or cuts are composed and locked into frame (chase) and into the bed of a press, its inked and paper is pressed against it to transfer the ink from the type which creates an impression on the paper.
- More Examples: More examples of early prints.
