Printmaking: Monotype

Printmaking: Monotype

A unique print made by pressing paper against a painted or inked surface. There may be multiple passes of transferring the ink to the paper, but there is only one print. Unfortunately I have never tried this technique, so there are no personal examples. "Gelli Plates" can be purchased for a nominal price as an introduction, and there are many Youtube videos. The book "Monotype: Mediums and Methods for Painterly Printmaking" by Julia Ayres is also an excellect source for more information.
