Chiaroscuro
| Definition | Italian for Light and Shade or Light and Dark, refering to the modeling of volume by depicting light and shade by contrasting them boldly. Leonardo DaVinci pioneered the use of chiaroscuro to create the illusion of relief on a two dimensional surface.
